Dr. Charles Best Model United Nations (DCBMUN) is a student-run, not-for-profit Model United Nations conference designed to introduce high school students to a world of diplomacy, debate, and collaboration. DCBMUN aims to create an engaging environment where both experienced delegates and newcomers can develop confidence, enhance speaking skills, and explore global issues through problem-solving.

Founded on the belief that opportunities for learning and leadership should be accessible to everyone, DCBMUN emphasizes inclusion, inquisitiveness, and innovation. Whether delegates are attending their first conference or looking to strengthen their diplomatic abilities, DCBMUN offers a supportive environment where every delegate is encouraged to participate, collaborate, and grow with confidence.

DCBMUN believes that one's greatest means of communication comes from the confidence one has to learn from themselves and others. In order to learn from yourself, DCBMUN believes one must be able to believe in one's self; this is why DCBMUN has chosen

Alvina Fung

Entering the final year of her Model United Nations tenure, Alvina could not be more honoured to serve as the Secretary-General at the inaugural iteration of DCBMUN. A rising senior at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School, she first stepped into the fascinating world of Model United Nations driven by her passion for politics and global affairs. Ever since her embarrassing first conference, Alvina has grown to love the absolute ragebait, table-banging, unserious note-passing, and the last-minute preparations of MUN. Currently prioritizing rewatching America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for the 20th time rather than writing her university applications, Alvina wishes all delegates a truly unforgettable and entertaining conference experience!

Director-General

Ysabel Zeng

Entering the 12th grade and last year of Model United Nations, Ysabel is elated to serve as the Director-General in addition with USG of marketing for DCBMUN. After joining the school MUN club only to support her friend, Ysabel has since grown to adore the chaotic and fruitful debate, impulsive improvisation, and the wild note passing of MUN. Aside from MUN, Ysabel can be found larping different shows, eating Vietnamese salad rolls, going on walks, and going to the gym. She hopes that all staff and delegates enjoy their time, making genuine memories at DCBMUN.

Maisie Wylie

As a Grade Eleven student at Dr. Charles Best Secondary, Maisie is ecstatic to serve as the Chief of Staff for Doctor Charles Best Model United Nations 2027. After barely raising her placard in her first year of MUN, Maisie has grown to love the passionate and thoughtful environment it offers. From chaotic speeches to poorly-written working papers, she is exceptionally grateful for all the memories made through Model UN. Outside of the conference room, Maisie can be found scrutinizing books and pondering the sanity of humankind. Through her role as Chief of Staff, Maisie hopes to foster an invigorating forum for change.

Loic Keurvorst

As Loic enters 10th grade, they are enthusiastic to be DCBMUN’s first USG of Logistics. Loic has always been attentive of global politics, with a strong desire to leave a mark on the world. Loic can fondly remember their first MUN conference, and the rush of excitement and “celeriously” amazing puns made it a truly memorable experience. You can find Loic procrastinating homework, watching video essays, looking at pinterest, or making a doodle. As USG of logistics, Loic won't hesitate to plan every aspect of the conference down to the last detail. Lastly, Loic hopes you all have an extraordinary experience at DCBMUN 2027.

Sharlene Peng

Sharlene, a 10th grader at Doctor Charles Best Secondary school, is excited to serve as DCBMUN’s first USG of Delegate Affairs. Sharlene believes that meaningful dialogue is the foundation for addressing the world's problems. Sharlene can be found reading poetry, drinking bubble tea, or crying to Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto number two or Kol Nidre by Bruch. As the USG of Delegate Affairs, do not hesitate to ask questions or to send an email to her. Sharlene wishes everyone a stellar experience at DCBMUN 2027.

Jack Wang

As a senior at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School, Jack is honoured to serve as the USG of Committees for the first iteration of DCBMUN. With his profound interest in law and real-world conduct, Jack believes that Model United Nations is an exciting and intuitive environment for youth to experience diplomacy, public speaking, and the ability to cooperate with others. The world may change and responsibilities may grow, yet Jack’s passion for MUN will never let go. Jack wishes everyone attending DCBMUN to have a fun and memorable experience, because these experiences will be the ones cherished both in and outside of the conference.

Elaine Hsu

Entering her 11th year at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School and second year in Model UN, Elaine is eager to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Outreach for the first iteration of DCBMUN. From advocating for the implementation of accessible healthcare as the Shadow Minister for Health, to subsidizing childcare and combating workplace discrimination at UN Women, Elaine has grown to love the fast-paced, pivotal debate environment at Model UN conferences. Elaine hopes that every delegate attending this iteration of DCBMUN will not only grow in their public-speaking skills, but learn something new about themselves and grow in their passion for Model UN. Outside of Model UN conferences, Elaine can be found binge watching TV shows, reading, or consuming more caffeine than she should.

Paya Maroufi

As a quote unquote "human person", Paya enjoys breathing, metabolizing calories, and engaging in prolonged rest periods during the lull between day-night cycles. He's honoured to have been recruited to this team and is glad to be working on this very website, among other things. Having never participated in Model UN before, he hopes to take many opportunities to do so during his final two years of school. In his free time, you can find him LARPing LinkedIn, participating in Hack Club conventions, coding, or really doing anything other than his school work.
